Transfer!
Dear friends,
Thanks so much for reading this blog! To simplify all of the places I am writing and sharing, I have decided to incorporate Jill's Journeys with our Cobb family blog. That way I can write updates in one place instead of several.
Please continue to join us on our journey, as we discover the depths of Jesus' love for us! Visit http://babycobb.blogspot.com/ as this blog is now tranferred over.
Though this other blog was at first primarily to share updates on our son, I think it is perfect to continue sharing how God is revealing Himself to me and to all of us. After all, even as we mature and grow in our faith, we will always be God's children, who come to Him with faith as a child.
I look forward to sharing with you on this new blog, and can't wait to read your comments!
Thanks!
Jill Cobb

A private matter
There is such a push in business, in politics, in neighborhood block parties, to keep faith a private matter. "My faith is personal," people say. "Spiritual beliefs should be kept out of the public sphere," others comment.
Those people do not fully understand faith.
I wouldn't want to try to keep my relationship with Jesus private, because He is the most important person in my life. Faith should be all-consuming, all-encompassing, to be shared with everyone it comes into contact. Faith cannot be compartmentalized or degreed. Faith is 100 percent or nothing. For example, you cannot believe that Jesus was just a good person. He is either who He said He is, or He is not. There is no middle ground.
Too many people have middle-of-the-road, moderate faith. That is because they confuse faith with religiousity or spirituality. Faith has become something to do instead of something to be.
Faith cannot be hid or turned off or on. Faith is identity. To keep one's beliefs private or relationship with a "higher power" to oneself is to be less than you are, to deny who you are.
Jesus described it like this. You are holding a candle in a dark room. Will you cover that candle and blot out the light, or will you hold it high so that everyone in the room will see and experience the glow? Will you let the light shine or extinguish it? Light in the darkness is obvious, it stands out, and other people will notice the light in the darkness.
We are that light.
